One of the many highlights celebrating St. Moritz and its glamour is the British Classic Car Meeting which takes place once a year in July. For a whole weekend over 100 first-rate classic cars bring British style to the Alpine metropolis. Only classic cars of British brands up to 1980 are admitted, and the starting signal for the rally is given on Saturday morning in the centre of St. Moritz within just three minutes' walk of the Crystal Hotel. Here, every half minute, the shining classic cars start their tour along the winding roads of the Engadine. Enthusiastically supported and applauded by fans and spectators, the drivers of the classic cars start their round trip and the same crowd is there at the finishing line to welcome them back in the evening.
Another highlight for friends and admirers of classic cars is the Concours d'Elégance which takes place on Sunday. All cars admitted to the British Classic Car Meeting are obliged to participate in this event which celebrates the elegance of car design. Bumper to bumper, lined up like a string of pearls, more than 100 classic cars stand ready to be admired in the middle of the St. Moritz pedestrian zone: a fascinating spectacle. Reception cocktails and a gala dinner with the prize-winning ceremony round off this extraordinary weekend in honour of automobile sport.
