Muottas Muragl

A mountain like no other

A vantage point that makes a lasting impression – and it’s so easy to reach without effort. From the valley station at 1738 metres a.s.l., the funicular, built in 1907, takes you up to Muottas Muragl at 2456 metres in the shortest possible time. Once at the top, the view is simply stunning. St. Moritz and the Upper Engadine lake plateau are literally at your feet. It’s easy to understand why the famous artist Giovanni Segantini, who could paint the light and the landscape of the Engadine like no other, was inspired by this view. Sure-footed admirers of the artist climb up a well-signposted track to Segantini's last home, the Segantini Hut. Here, at 2731 metres a.s.l., with the magnificent panorama stretching out around you, the painter’s intention can be perfectly understood. The Muottas Muragl mountain station is also the starting point for a variety of shorter or longer tours, during which, with a bit of luck, you can see ibex and marmots in summer. Or you can take a seat on the sun terrace of the Romantik Hotel Muottas Muragl, ideally located right next to the mountain station. From here it is also worth exploring the "Senda d'Inspiraziun". On the inspiring circular path you will encounter a number of contemporary works of art. Whether in summer or winter – the mountain like no other will create some very special memories for you.
