Sailing on Lake St. Moritz

Blow Maloja wind, blow!

Sailing enthusiasts feel a thrill when the Maloja wind blows. In the summer months it regularly starts at midday and sweeps down valley across Lake St. Moritz. It provides for a first-class sailing experience in the midst of the sublime natural scenery. And you don’t have to bring your own boat to the Engadine – the St. Moritz Sailing Club, founded as early as 1941, has a wide range of boats that can be hired by the hour, day or week. After a short 15-minute walk our hotel guests have arrived at the sailing club’s idyllically located boathouse, where they can choose a suitable boat and hoist their sails. Life jackets are provided and wetsuits can be rented.

At the St. Moritz Sailing Club, both beginners and experienced sailors get their money's worth. The next generation can also have their fun:  special children's boats give them the chance to experience the beauty of sailing.  Furthermore, the club on Lake St. Moritz offers practical training and theory lessons for beginners and advanced sailors on various boat types (Blu26, First Class 7). You will find all the information about sail training and exam preparation on the club’s website.

The Sailing Club also has the only restaurant in St. Moritz located directly on the lake shore. Before and after the trip, Pier 34 is the ideal place to get in the mood for the day or to reminisce about the hours spent on the lake.
